Cedar Ridge Academy is a Safe Zone

By Cedar Ridge Academy

Cedar Ridge Academy has gone above and beyond to create an atmosphere of safety for students. Students at Cedar Ridge Academy are protected by a number of policies that have been put in place to preserve that essential quality of safety. Cedar Ridge Academy is a boarding school for troubled teens. In order for troubled teens to receive the best treatment possible, they must feel safe. Cedar Ridge Academy strives to find occasions of peace and serenity for students so that they may feel safe in order to let the therapy that they receive work. Policies at Cedar Ridge academy do a good job of setting forth the ideal conditions for safety.

Cedar Ridge Academy Staff

The highly trained staff of Cedar Ridge Academy are thoroughly screened in a process that continues past the date of hire and for the duration of their employment. Extensive security measures such as these might be invasive in another workplace environment, but they are essential at Cedar Ridge Academy in order to best assure parents that their troubled teens are being looked after by the best possible staff who reflect the schools values. Each year, employees of the school go through extensive background checks to make sure that they do live up to those values.

Geary Oakes, a former nurse at the school, was involved with an incident back in 2009 in which he was accused of sexual abuse against a student. He was hired with no prior incidence of criminal behavior, and maintained this clean record throughout his duration at Cedar Ridge Academy. He was immediately fired when this became known to the school, and Cedar Ridge Academy did everything in its power to bring him to justice as soon as possible. He is now serving a twenty year sentence for his horrific crimes. That prompted the school to enact broader security measures that now find the school leading the way in terms of school safety standards.

Cedar Ridge Academy Protects Against Sexual Abuse

At the end of the day, the measures taken by Cedar Ridge Academy to promote an atmosphere of student safety, have the effect of encouraging positive developments in therapeutic healing. A safe environment is absolutely essential to achieve the results Cedar Ridge Academy seeks. Cedar Ridge Academy is confident that students feel safe in the therapeutic environment they have created.
