Therapeutic Programs for Troubled Teens

Therapeutic Programs for troubled teens are designed to deal with kids who experience problems with self-image, self-trust, and self-esteem, substance abuse, oppositional behavior, family conflict, attention issues, anger, depression, anxiety and manipulation. Therapeutic programs focus on treating teens with mental health disorders through the assistance of tried and true therapeutic interventions. Therapeutic programs can be psychiatric programs, or psychological based intervention (inpatient) services. These programs are long term, offering psychiatric care, individual and group therapy, as well as experiential therapy such as art or equine science. Therapy plays the key role in these types of programs. The psychological and psychiatric treatment helps the patient to live a normal life, teaching them how to take responsibility for their illness and recovery.

The problem with therapeutic programs is this… to a psychiatrist or a therapist everyone has a mental disorder, a deficit, and a mental illness. Everyone is mentally ill. The truth is that most people make mistakes, make poor choices, and sometimes we become dysfunctional people due to a series of poor choices and bad lifestyle mistakes. The truth is, most people who are depressed are totally normal. Most people are depressed because they have made many poor choices over a period of time, and they are depressed because they are normal. Anyone who makes poor choices over and over again should be depressed.

There are some people who truly need therapeutic intervention. But, 95% of people under the care of mental health professionals are not mentally ill, they are emotionally immature and keep making decisions that hurt themselves and others. Therefore, they need assistance because they are needy emotionally. Unfortunately, mental health professionals usually give these people a “disorder”, which they now have an excuse or something to blame other than their own poor behavior.

For more information for people who truly need therapeutic intervention, not emotional growth, contact Greg Hitchcock at 888-597-9495.
