Boarding Schools

Boarding schools for the troubled teens are the academic-based “boarding” schools where students reside during their enrollment. They live in a 24-hour supervised environment, 7 days per week. Parents looking at Boarding schools for their troubled teenagers have decided that their child is in immediate need of an out of home placement. There are educational, emotional, and/or behavioral issues that go beyond the ability of the parent to handle.

Boarding schools for troubled teens have proven that the boarding program has a positive effect on the enrolled student. The improvements are academic improvements, as well as emotional growth, behavioral management (making better choices). The time and investment in these schools may vary from one year to two years depending on the intensity of problems a teen is facing. There are boarding schools for troubled girls, boarding schools for troubled boys, therapeutic boarding schools, residential treatment centers, and traditional private boarding schools.

Boarding schools for boys and girls are expensive. The main cost comes from the expense to supervise, feed, and house at risk kids 24-hours per day, 7 days per week. There usually is a psychological element also, with increases the cost. Most boarding schools for struggling teens are 12 to 18 months in duration.
