Life Skills Development Programs for Young Adults are programs that specialize in helping young adults prepare to enroll into college with the intention that leads to the completion of degree requirements, or the ability to matriculate to a four-year college or university.

Additionally, Life Skills Development Programs for Young Adults are designed to help young adults prepare for placement into programs for more highly skilled post-secondary technical education or training which prepares students to enter employment. Through a well-developed Life Skills Training program young adults will are given the opportunity to improve their interpersonal skills, learn to organize their lives, and manage the tasks of daily independent living.Independent living skills treatment program for young adults are unique and tailored to each individual to help with behavioral, emotional, substance abuse and learning issues.
Usually there is a clinical staff that is highly qualified and experienced in working with young adults who come with a wide variety issues. Some of these include:

• ADD/ADHD
• Academic/vocational challenges
• Oppositional Defiance Disorder
• Bipolar Disorder
• Post Traumatic Stress Disorder- PTSD

• Low self-esteem and lack of confidence

Clients who may be considered inappropriate include people struggling with the following:
• Primarily mentally challenged
• In current throes of alcohol / substance abuse issues: these clients may require initial detoxification program as a prerequisite for enrollment
• Unable to live and function in an independent living environment (must be able to feed, bathe, and take general care of self)
• Violent and/or sexual offenders
